Fantastic Music Friday :: Transparent Things

On 16, Mar 2012 | No Comments | In Music | By Lindsey Brown

Fujiya & Miyagi’s Transparent Things

I’ve listened to this song for over an hour straight on several occasions.  It’s dancy. It’s trancey. It will help you usher in the weekend.  I’m visiting my bff in Nashville this weekend. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all my cute little leprechauns.

Give it a little listen

Fantastic Music Friday :: Kings of Convenience

On 09, Mar 2012 | No Comments | In Music | By Lindsey

This Fantastic Music Friday is specifically about this song, I’d rather dance with you.  Kings of Convenience and their sweet red head singer, Erlend Oye, are wonderful, but this song is so sweet and quirky. (Erlend Oye is the singer for one of my all time favorite bands “The Whitest Boy Alive” of Berlin, which I’m sure will be featured again soon, especially before my approaching trip to Berlin in June.

So, enjoy the song and take a look at the lyrics. My favorite lines are…

I’d rather dance than talk with you
Even if I could hear what you said
I doubt my reply would be interesting for you to hear
Because I haven’t read a single book all year
And the only film I saw, I didn’t like it at all

Full lyrics below :) Also the video is attached xoxo

Lyrics

I’d rather dance with you than talk with you
So why don’t we just move into the other room
There’s space for us to shake, and hey, I like this tune
Even if I could hear what you said
I doubt my reply would be interesting for you to hear
Because I haven’t read a single book all year
And the only film I saw, I didn’t like it at all
I’d rather dance, I’d rather dance than talk with you
I’d rather dance, I’d rather dance than talk with you
I’d rather dance, I’d rather dance than talk with you
The music’s too loud and the noise from the crowd
Increases the chance of misinterpretation
So let your hips do the talking
I’ll make you laugh by acting like the guy who sings
And you’ll make me smile by really getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing…
(Getting to the swing…)
I’d rather dance, I’d rather dance than talk with you
I’d rather dance, I’d rather dance than talk with you
I’d rather dance, I’d rather dance than talk with you
I’d rather dance, I’d rather dance than talk with you
I’d rather dance with you
I’d rather dance with you
I’d rather dance with you

Tweet Tweet :: Lydia and Leona

On 06, Mar 2012 | No Comments | In Musings | By Lindsey

Lydia and Leona have been a part of my Memphis family for a week and a half now.

My decision to bring them home with me was much like it is when I buy a piece of furniture. An immediate connection and a decision that goes over itself in my head for about 30 seconds. They were mine. I bought them at a flea market. I waited on their introduction to you because I really needed to know what was going to happen. I’ve never had birds before.

Well, as I write they are in the room next to me singing, which they start around 7 am and go all day. They make a massive mess by not eating the entire seed, instead they eat the insides and throw the shell on the ground for Momma and Bridget to clean up. When it comes to Bridget, she hissed at them the first day and swatted at their cage the 2nd, since then it’s as if they don’t exist to her. My plan is to find a beautiful antique cage for them. They need more space. If you see a great looking cage let me know! So far their singing is a true joy and their colors are so vibrant.

Fantastic Music Friday :: Dance it out with Belle and Sebastian

On 02, Mar 2012 | No Comments | In Music | By Lindsey

Ok. If you are at home and reading this. Shut the door. Turn the volume up. And…dance. Just don’t think about it. Now, if you are at work, I’d hold off. Belle and Sebastian is some of the best “I’m so happy I just want to giggle and prance around” music. This song is especially good for that sort of thing. It’s March 2nd. We are alive and about to enjoy one of the most glorious and inspiring seasons of the year.

Dancing tips :: Stuart is normally a model of happy dancing
not in this video though. They are pretending to be serious.
Don’t dance like them.

Just for fun this is a better video of Stuart dancing around
The video is kind of poor but still adorable moves
( these girls just don’t get it )

Happy Friday xoxo
