A Cross Atlantic Trip :: Perfect Time for Crime

The False Inspector Dew

I picked this book up on a whim. Having just finished all Peter Lovesey’s Peter Diamond books, I was wanting something good. So, I turned to one of Lovesey’s older crime novels.

The book is set in the 20’s. There are two crimes being told through the story that in the end weave a great tale. I love the blending of British and American culture.

I stayed up all night just to finish. The characters are interesting. The setting of the Mauretania is a great change from the streets I normally follow the investigations through. Normally when I start a book, I enter the crime after it has happened and play the role of assistant investigator. In this one we are there with the players as they plot and worry. The end was a bit of a curve ball :: if you read you will no doubt agree.
