I’m picking Matt up at the airport in a few hours. Together we are going to one of my favorite annual events in Memphis. Memphis Fashion Week. Turns out it started the same year I got here, so I’ve been able to enjoy it all the way through. It’s not that I much care for fashion. Well, I do, but really am clueless. I just like all the colors, patterns, movement and music. Anyhow, since I told him we are going, he’s been sending me this link, daily. He’ll even chat it at me over the phone.
I’m so excited, mostly because it’s happening at the Antebellum Annesdale Mansion. It’s 1850 Italianate on property I imagined as a child when reading the secret garden. I toured the grounds back in October during a Halloween tour and can’t wait to see inside. It’s so unique. Memphis has some of the most interesting southern architecture. So different than the coast where I grew up.
My news director was kind enough to let me feature a Memphis Fashion Week partner business on the news this week. The brand new Henny Penny Mobile Boutique. The owner, Cyndii Jo Hartley, has the most vibrant red hair and what I think is a killer idea. You might see her and her super cool Lance Snack truck turned boutique at your next event.
Here’s a pic from the first year in 2012. With my friend and former WMC intern Nicole Blum.
