Frozen walk in the city

On 03, Feb 2015 | No Comments | In Musings | By Lindsey

I just walked back into my apartment.
My face is splotchy red from the cold but I’m sweating. It’s such a good feeling to drop all the wet winter clothes off at the doorstep. I love looking through the fresh – inspiring pictures on instagram. However, apparently I’m following a bunch of Australian creatives on there because they are posting tons of swimsuit photos. Looking at those made me long for warmth, but fat chance for this new Minnesotan. It’s clearly not coming any time soon. That’s fine. I decided to embrace the winter instead. I put on all my hardest wearing winter clothes and once I looked enough like a rolley-polley, headed out to walk around in the glistening sunset after a day of fresh snow. I do find it so pretty up here in the winter. Normally I’m working and can’t enjoy the snow for its beauty. Tonight I just enjoyed it. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one. The river paths were full of other people out running and biking. How strange to see the Mississippi frozen!! Once I got far enough from downtown, I could see the winter weather had made the prettiest purple reflection on the city.

The snow on the ground was fresh and dry. The squeaking sound it makes when you walk is so neat. Remember, I grew up on the beach, so this is all incredibly novel for me. Now I’m back in my apartment and watching the people on the street maneuver the slick sidewalks. Glad to be inside warming back home and drying off. So much to discover up here.
