The Celebrity Life

Blake Lively now, like Gwyn, has her own lifestyle site!

20140709-100404-36244860.jpg

Passing no judgement, but still can’t help but giggle when I read the site/star’s objective. I mean……say what? Haven’t we heard enough from Gwyneth’s curated (unattainable) life.

“The main element of it is it’s about storytelling, and it’s about living a very one-of-a-kind, curated life and how to achieve that.”

So, on her site
she’s talking about things she owns that really we mortals can’t reasonably obtain unless we sell our cars.

Chubs The Deaf Bully

On 04, Jul 2014 | No Comments | In Musings | By Lindsey

I have a huge crush.

On a dog. No, a real dog.

His name is Chubs. He’s a deaf Memphis bulldog. We first met over the web when his mom posted pics of him watching Action News 5 on tv. He loved the programming so much he’d jump at the tv (even knocked it over one time, oooops)

I follow him on Instagram ( @chubsthedeafbully )
His mom and I are Facebook friends now.
Long story short, Chubs was in my dreams last night. He was with his mom in a restaurant. I ran to him and smothered him with hugs. I was so happy. So strange. I need a dog of my own.

These pouches are just stunning.
Make me feel a bit cooler just by looking. Can’t imagine holding. Won’t be because of the price tag, but don’t mind looking and smiling. 3 colors. My favorite is the one with heavy pinks.

Must love CATS

On 21, Jun 2014 | No Comments | In Musings | By Lindsey

A store just for people who love cats.
I asked the Charlottesville, Virginia store owner what gave her the inspiration to open it and she said because she knew I was coming. What a delightfully strange and fantastic answer. It was pretty clear I was fascinated with her merchandise. Who knew there is that much cat stuff created?

I got a cat change purse (which I needed) and a dish towel (my addiction).

They are coming to Memphis :: Phantogram

On 19, Jun 2014 | No Comments | In Musings | By Lindsey

I’m just a huge fan. Have been.
It’s good in a world where not enough music is amazing. Dark and electronic.
If I’m in Memphis I’m going. Who needs sleep? Phantogram at Minglewood!

Forced Stay-cation

On 12, Jun 2014 | No Comments | In Musings | By Lindsey

Lost my power last week during a nasty storm.
A giant limb fell, knocking out power.
For the last week it’s been gradually coming back on.
Finally last night I got my fridge back!!
When the power went out it somehow did something strange and electrical to only one half of my house. Based on my description can’t you tell I’m not an electrician.
Anyhow, this week has been a test in patience with lots of fast food.

When Matt was here this weekend we did enjoy an emergency hotel stay. What are you going to do? Lounge!!

Bussaco with the friars and Napoleon

On 26, May 2014 | No Comments | In Musings | By Lindsey

20140526-130107-46867739.jpg

I’ve needed some inspiration.
A mix of history and beauty.
Camille booked us at the most amazing hotel in the middle of the Bucaco National Forest. Not only is the hotel full of treasures like old photos and amazing furniture from the mid-1800’s, but attached to the hotel is a monastery. In it are original religious paintings and figures. The garden dating back to 1886 took my breath away or maybe it was the winding nature trail, established by the friars, we took a bit ago? It’s amazing to think of the lives spent here in the middle of the woods. Apparently Napoleon’s men fought a battle here.

RIP Lenny

On 13, Apr 2014 | No Comments | In Musings | By Lindsey

20140413-175258.jpg

He was just a bird, but I really adored him.

When I got home, I found out Lenny, my parakeet, died while I was at the beach. My friend Karen, who was taking care of my animals, found him. She was very kind to take care of his little body and break the news to me.

You will think I am crazy, but I’m convinced my other bird, Leona, killed him. This is the 2nd bird to die while living with her.

Losing pets is sad, but I just keep telling myself it’s the way of the world and we are both ( Lenny and me ) better for our time together. I know I can be sarcastic at times, but this isn’t one of them. I’m truly sad & disappointed. Spending the night counting my blessings instead. Holding Bridget a little tighter ( and glad Leona can’t get her, too ) Plus, I’m mad at Leona, but have no proof she’s a murderer. Just sad. Lenny was so sweet. He let me hold him. I’d kiss his forehead. Just lots of personality.

She has bite…

On 01, Apr 2014 | No Comments | In Musings | By Lindsey

20140401-180051.jpg

Matt didn’t grow up around cats. He’s dating someone who just loves them, especially my cat Bridget, who I’ve had since she was a kitten. It’s been amusing to watch them interact. One time he very gently knocked her off the bed when he thought I wasn’t looking. Don’t worry she got him back. In March I begged him to give her a goodbye hug and she totally flipped out and bit him under the chin. I will say he went about it all wrong. He didn’t guard his face at all. Blood went everywhere. It wasn’t bad – just one of those shallow cuts that bleeds a lot. Still, we were all freaking because of the blood. Plus, I was panicking over the fact that I may have ruined their relationship before it really got to grow. I’m happy to write that when Matt was here this past weekend, both parties seemed to have forgotten about their past brawl. Sad she can’t be as sweet as the birds.

Fashion Show For Lunch

On 28, Mar 2014 | No Comments | In Design, Musings | By Lindsey

2014-MFW-KPFUSION-2

I’m picking Matt up at the airport in a few hours. Together we are going to one of my favorite annual events in Memphis. Memphis Fashion Week. Turns out it started the same year I got here, so I’ve been able to enjoy it all the way through. It’s not that I much care for fashion. Well, I do, but really am clueless. I just like all the colors, patterns, movement and music. Anyhow, since I told him we are going, he’s been sending me this link, daily. He’ll even chat it at me over the phone.

Fashion show – Fashion show – Fashion show at lunch

I’m so excited, mostly because it’s happening at the Antebellum Annesdale Mansion. It’s 1850 Italianate on property I imagined as a child when reading the secret garden. I toured the grounds back in October during a Halloween tour and can’t wait to see inside. It’s so unique. Memphis has some of the most interesting southern architecture. So different than the coast where I grew up.

20140328-133256.jpg

My news director was kind enough to let me feature a Memphis Fashion Week partner business on the news this week. The brand new Henny Penny Mobile Boutique. The owner, Cyndii Jo Hartley, has the most vibrant red hair and what I think is a killer idea. You might see her and her super cool Lance Snack truck turned boutique at your next event.

Here’s a pic from the first year in 2012. With my friend and former WMC intern Nicole Blum.
